Few know that the only Ukrainian institute of higher education that exists outside of Ukraine has been operating in Yerevan since 2001. It has become a Ukrainian island in Armenia in its own way. It is called the Yerevan Branch of the Ternopil National University of Economics, located by the Football Academy in Avan. The university’s director, Sahak Ghudratyan, was appointed the honorable Consul to Ukraine in three of Armenia’s regions (his seat is in Vanadzor). Graduates of the university are successfully included in different sectors of Armenia’s economic and administrative systems. The Ukrainian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary frequently visits the university when special gatherings take place in honor of Armenian-Ukrainian relations.
