“People with different professions need to be in parliament, and some of them need to be experienced. There was no chance for the government to change for many years, which is why some of the candidates have no experience. I don’t consider that to be a negative thing. Just the opposite,” deputy candidate from the My Step alliance Lilit Makunts told Aravot regarding criticism from political competitors that there are inexperienced youth on the My Step list.
Lilit Makunts, regarding criticism that the candidates from the My Step alliance are not fighting against competitors with ideas, but instead are placing their hopes for getting into parliament on Nikol Pashinyan due to his high ratings, said, “Yes, Nikol Pashinyan’s high ratings have a huge role to play, especially when taking the Velvet Revolution into consideration. But, at the same time, our plans and values are clear.”
We asked her if some of Nikol Pashinyan’s statements, such as “we’ll throw them against the asphalt” and “we’ll throw them against the wall,” which have been labeled hate speech by the RPA and others, cast a shadow on the political fight. “This phase of the campaign is emotional for everyone. It is understandable for everyone that such statements are simply metaphors and are not to be taken literally. To throw someone against the asphalt means that they should be punished according to the law, not any physical fights.”
