‘The USA understood that its policy of forgiving Turkey for everything is not correct’: Deputy

December 13,2019 21:55

“Turkey crossed the line. Turkey did not support its allies, including in Syria, and was instead implementing a plan that went against its allies in NATO and its relations with the USA,” My Step deputy and international affairs expert Hovhannes Igityan told journalists regarding the US Senate’s adoption of a resolution recognizing the Armenian Genocide.

“The USA understood that its policy of forgiving Turkey and turning a blind eye to its actions has an adverse effect. Erdogan is becoming more aggressive and less favorable for the region. I am referring to the recent invasion of Syria,” Hovhannes Igityan said.

According to him, it has been said for a while that America’s recognition of the Armenian Genocide will depend on its relations with Turkey. “This is both true and not true. It’s true because a similar situation took place, and it’s also not true because the countries that have considered Turkey to be an ally for many years understood that Turkey’s policies have an adverse effect.”
