“I will not answer the question about improving the borders. You know that we are in a situation where the Armed Forces are carrying out specific duties. Our clarifications and maps can have a negative impact on our Armed Forces. We will wait until the situation calms down a bit and then perhaps respond to that separately,” the head of the Command Staff Faculty at the Vazgen Sargsyan Military University, Artsrun Hovhannisyan, said during a briefing at the Crisis Information Center in Ijevan.

When asked if larger troops will be taken to the border that can lead to more serious operations in the future, Artsrun Hovhannisyan responded, “You can be assured that the Armenian Armed Forces is well aware of any movements made by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces. But I would prefer not to speak about what forces were moved where. I do not want anyone to know the information that we know. We should not open our playing cards.”

Artsrun Hovhannisyan said that evacuations did not take place from any Armenian village. He assured that evacuations will not take place because our people are standing firmly in their positions.

Regarding Azerbaijan’s policies of targeting their civilians, Hovhannisyan said, “We received information today on how an entire division surrounded a village on all sides. No matter how our soldiers would have tried to suppress that division, they would have ended up targeting the civilian population.”

Artsrun Hovhannisyan did not respond to a question about the necessity of appealing to the CSTO. He said that a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will comment on that.

When asked if there is a need to call in the reserve or the Yerkrapah Volunteer Union, Artsrun Hovhannisyan said, “The Armenian Armed Forces and the military units and subdivisions that are constantly ready for combat are able to clearly fulfill the tasks set before them. There is no need for that. You know that there is a clear legislative procedure for such a process. If necessary, the Armenian government will resolve the issue. But there is no need for that at the moment.”

When asked if the tank was the heaviest artillery used over the past few days, Artsrun Hovhannisyan said that it was not because Grads were also used.
