According to Aravot Daily’s sources, classes at the Armenian State University of Economics Faculty of Accounting and Auditing were being held with 40-50 people at a time due to the fact that the university is currently under construction. On September 8th, students from the Faculty of Accounting and Auditing had fevers, and the entire class was sent home. According to our sources, one of the professors, Tehmine Stepanyan, also had a fever.
Aravot Daily asked the Armenian State University of Economics for commentary on this topic. The Media and Public Relations Division responded, “One student in their first year at the Faculty of Accounting and Auditing was found to have a fever on September 2nd, so we sent them home. The student was confirmed to have the coronavirus, but it is important to note that they did not come to the university after September 2nd.”
They continued, “Yesterday, on September 8th, one student had a fever from the same class, so we decided to send the entire class home. Their classes are being held online. The university also informed the Armenian association of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. In addition, there have been no cases of the coronavirus among professors at the university.”
In an interview with Aravot Daily, a lecturer at the Armenian State University of Economics, Tehmine Stepanyan, who had a fever, said that she went to the university twice on September 8th. She said that she did not have a fever in the morning, and she needed to be with the students at that time, but then she was informed that those students were sent home. Then, she went to the university again at 4 PM because she had a liquidation. At 3:45, they checked her temperature, and they found that she had a fever. She also had her temperature checked at the nurse’s office, where she also was confirmed to have a fever. Stepanyan said that they did not allow her to administer an exam. “Then, I went home and checked my temperature 10 times. I do not have a temperature anymore.” She added that she did not have the exam with the Faculty of Accounting and Auditing, but with the Faculty of Management, and she did not meet with the student who had the liquidation. She said that she did not take a coronavirus test, but if she notices any symptoms, she will take one because she is a responsible person.

Regarding the construction taking place at the university, the university said that there is currently no construction going on and all classes are taking place in accordance with the guidelines set by the state of emergency command.
