Davit Harutyunyan: Our hope for our prisoners of war is the Russian peacekeeping troops

December 24,2020 16:53

“Azerbaijan is preparing for the war our children will participate in,” the former Minister of Justice, Davit Harutyunyan, told reporters in an interview.

He said that, after losing the war, the most important tasks that the government should have taken on were returning the prisoners of war and those missing in action. “I do not see any connection between this gathering and that process. Unfortunately, I have seen that the government is practically useless in that respect. In fact, our hope is the Russian peacekeeping troops, which are doing much more than our own government.”

Regarding the issue of demarcation and how the description of Armenia’s national borders was accepted in the Law on Administrative Territorial Divisions in 2010, Davit Harutyunyan said, “Administrative territorial divisions has never served as a basis in any country for determining state borders. That is why other laws exist. This means that, if someone in the government is making such comments, we must first demand that they resign because they can lose much more territory with that kind of ignorant behavior.”

According to Harutyunyan, the current government of Armenia is instilling hatred in people, which is described by the saying “divide and conquer.” “Unfortunately, that psychological tactic has worked over the years in different countries, which brought those countries to their demise. This is all taking place in our own country right now as well.”
