July 30,2021 19:30

The Vice Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, regarding the decision to limit the movement of reporters within the parliament building, said, “You will find out about all the decisions. I am not commenting on discussions. It will be published. You will find out everything.” Reporters clarified if that means contact with reporters will be limited, which Alen Simonyan neither confirmed nor denied. “The decision will be made, and you will know the details.”

In any case, the “good news” is that on August 2nd, the first working day of the new parliament, reporters will work as they always have- without restrictions.

When asked if they are scared of reporters since they decided to limit movement in parliament, Alen Simonyan responded, “Do I look like someone who is afraid of reporters? Overall, the reasons have to do with security. This is not about specific reporters or individuals. New rules will be implemented with the goal of security. In the end, we have had many bad incidents in our history and recently, and there were many precedents in the past, starting with October 27th. By the way, I must say that a reporter was one of the coordinators of October 27th, ending with war. You have witnessed and reported shootings on Baghramyan, where the parliament building is located. A murder attempt was made on the National Assembly Speaker. I don’t know why, but you don’t remember all of this, and you are surprised that the security rules can be more restricted in the situation where we have incidents at the border every day.”

Alen Simonyan said that reporters will have all the opportunities outlined by the law that they had in the past.
