The court granted the prosecutor’s motion and former Defense Minister David Tonoyan was arrested. Davit Tonoyan’s lawyer Sergey Hovhannisyan said this in a conversation with journalists on September 30. The investigation of Davit Tonoyan’s arrest motion lasted about three hours. The former Minister of Defense does not accept the accusation against him. He made a statement in court on that occasion. His lawyer said that this decision will be appealed in the Court of Appeals, and they expect that justice will be done.

Sergey Hovhannisyan said that the investigator presented two facts on the basis of the arrest motion, being at large as his client would obstruct the investigation, the other being hiding from the investigation. The lawyer could not say what the circumstances of the case were as he had not yet had time to read the court decision. The lawyer claims that there are no grounds to detain David Tonoyan. Moreover, there is a lot of information in the case that refutes the accusation. Former Minister of Defense David Tonoyan stated in court that he has nothing to do with the accusation leveled against him, he is being charged. He also said that he is resilient.
