Police push citizens in front of the government: Deputies are not allowed to enter the building

November 11,2021 15:30

“Armenia without Turks,” “Aliyev will not let you?”  citizens gathered in front of the government building shouted during the protest against the illegal installation of the Azerbaijani customs checkpoints on the Goris-Kapan interstate road. The entrance of the executive building was blocked by a large number of policemen and citizens were not allowed to approach. Armenia alliance deputies Anna Grigoryan and Gegham Manukyan stated that as deputies, they have the right to enter the government and demand clarifications from the members of the executive, but the police did not allow them to approach the entrance either.

There was a scuffle: Gegham Manukyan was pushed out of the barricade by the police. Then, some citizens blocked traffic on the Republic Square, and the police were trying to stop it by pushing them. The red berets of two citizens forcibly put the official cars. “I need another car, look for a jeep,” says one of the policemen.

MP Anna Grigoryan informed the journalists that they were not allowed to enter, reasoning that there was an intensified regime in the executive building from ten in the morning. “It is impossible to act with a constantly strengthened regime. We have already initiated an urgent sitting in one of the NA committees. We still do not know who will be invited by the government.”
