Assistants to Turkey and US Presidents discuss situation in South Caucasus

Chief advisors to U.S. President Joe Biden and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed the situation in the South Caucasus, among other things, in a phone call, the White House said.

“National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan spoke by phone with Ibrahim Kalin, Spokesperson and Chief Advisor to the President of Turkey. They discussed next steps in U.S.-Turkey bilateral engagements following the meeting between President Biden and President Erdogan in Rome on October 31,” Biden’s National Security Council spokeswoman Emily Horne said in a statement.

“They exchanged views on a range of regional issues, including developments in Ukraine, Afghanistan, Syria, and the South Caucasus, as well as the importance of maintaining stability in the Eastern Mediterranean,” the statement reads.
