“If we take into account that if we unblock the roads, the cargo transportation flows will at least double, we come to a minimum yield of 5%, which is not a bad return without counting the related effects,” Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan said during a government-NA question-answer session on March 2 in reference to Armenia alliance member Artur Khachatryan’s remark that the Yeraskh-Julfa-Ordubad-Meghri-Horadiz railway project announced by Nikol Pashinyan has no preliminary calculations. “This allows us to enter the next stage and carry out more in-depth calculations and a project, as a result of which the numbers will be adjusted. But I have absolute confidence that the profitability of this initiative will have more positive data for us,” Mher Grigoryan added.
Artur Khachatryan stressed that it is groundless to claim that Armenia will turn that railway into Eldorado or a transit crossroads because there are no elementary calculations.
