“The prospects are bad, because the processes, for some reason, take place at the expense of Armenia. Let me remind you that it is not Armenia that has closed the border, but Turkey,” Arman Abovyan, a former member of the Prosperous Armenia parliamentary group, told reporters at Sputnik Armenia today, referring to the current stage of the Armenia-Turkey settlement process.
“What are they discussing in those meetings? Turkey’s preconditions are known. No matter how much this government announces that Turkey has not set preconditions, it does not, there are those, which were also partially confirmed by the Armenian Foreign Minister. The issue of the Armenian Genocide is not only a moral or psychological issue but also a serious geopolitical tool against Turkey. It is about the instrument of coming to justice before the international community. On the one hand, Turkey is trying to get rid of the image of a barbarian-murderer, on the other hand, to neutralize the tool of international pressure,” Arman Abovyan said.
According to him, what is the Armenian government negotiating with a terrorist country like Turkey, which has the idea of a big Turan at the expense of Armenian territories? “There is a pro-government deputy who said in his mouth that there is no Pan-Turkism. The next day, Turkey announced that an army of Turkic-speaking states was being formed. I sent it to him, but of course, I did not receive a response.”
