“Putin gave you a ‘pass’… talk a bit about Artsakh’s right to self-determination”: Eduard Sharmazanov

September 09,2022 19:30

“In his speech in Vladivostok, there was no hint about Artsakh’s right to self-determination. And that’s in the event that the Russian President gave a “pass” to Nikol to speak about the right to self-determination,” said RPA Vice President Eduard Sharmazanov, referring to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s speech at the 7th Eastern Economic Forum.

He continued, “But he did not talk about it, because there is a condition from the Azerbaijani-Turkish tandem not to talk about the independence of Artsakh, the right to self-determination, the genocide, and pro-Armenian solutions to the Artsakh problem.

The Armenian government has accepted the points of Azerbaijan, there is not a word in them about the self-determination of Artsakh. The government of Armenia has not said a word serving our interests.

According to the statements of the presidents of the co-chair countries of the OSCE Minsk Group in 2009 and 2013, the exercise of the right to self-determination in Nagorno-Karabakh is mandatory, while the representatives of Nikol state that there was no question of the right to self-determination. Nikol once announced in Kapan that he would return to Serzh Sargsyan’s negotiations at any time, and Serzh Sargsyan was negotiating for the right to self-determination.”

According to Eduard Sharmazanov, Pashinyan’s speech did not serve the interests of Armenia. “Putin gave you a pass, do it! He spoke about the right to self-determination of Donbass, Crimea, Kosovo… well, talk about Artsakh. No other country in the history of conflicts has such argued grounds for the right to self-determination that Artsakh has.”
