“Civil Contract is alone in sacrificing or selling Artsakh”: Ishkhan Saghatelyan on boycotting the National Assembly

September 13,2022 14:20

Parallel to the regular session of the RA National Assembly, which started yesterday, the Armenia and I Have Honor factions of the National Assembly held a joint public discussion under the title “The Real Agenda of Armenia.” Ishkhan Saghatelyan, deputy of the Armenia faction, noticed that at the moment when the real intellectual, expert, and political circles of the Armenian people are discussing the problems facing the state, trying to find solutions, “a circus-like show is going on inside the walls of the National Assembly.”

“The National Assembly of the 8th convocation of Armenia started its work today. This National Assembly started its work in the post-war reality of 2020. A reality that forced us to be more organized, to make all efforts to get our country out of the current situation,” ARF MP Ishkhan Saghatelyan said in his speech, noting that the parliament of this convocation should perhaps be different from the parliaments of other convocations.

According to his assessment, at the hands of “defeat and shame,” this parliament will remain as the most disgraceful parliament in the history of Armenia, where “national and state interest is completely absent due to the ruling majority.”

Referring to the decision of the opposition to boycott the National Assembly, the speaker said that the real agenda of Armenia is to ensure the security of Armenia and Artsakh, which requires the establishment of a national, state direction, and the opposition received a mandate from hundreds of thousands of citizens to maintain that agenda. According to Ishkhan Saghatelyan, the current government of Armenia and the majority of the National Assembly are working against that agenda, creating new threats for the state and the people.

He believes that today, there is everything in the Armenia National Assembly except serving the interests of Armenia and the Armenian people, and the political majority that promised the de-occupation of Hadrut and Shushi and also got a vote to do it refuses to sign and oppose the Turkish-Azerbaijani declaration signed in Shushi. The majority refused to participate in the extraordinary session called by the opposition, where a statement was to be adopted about the red lines adopted by Armenia, namely to declare that Artsakh can never be a part of Azerbaijan.

“So, it is necessary to leave them alone in their choice to serve the enemy’s agenda,” said Ishkhan Saghatelyan, adding that the enemies of Armenia and the international community should clearly see and understand that the political forces of Armenia, the healthy forces of Armenia, and the Armenian people are the owners of their homeland and “Civil Contract is alone in sacrificing or selling Artsakh.”

And the Resistance movement, in his opinion, had a number of achievements, the main one of which is the following: they showed the world that the current government does not have a mandate to lead Armenia to a new capitulation.
