“In fact, the war could have been prevented, and our children would not have perished. They didn’t do it. We consider that statement as Nikol Pashinyan’s confessed testimony”

April 04,2023 15:00

“We could have prevented the war, as a result of which we would have had this same situation, of course, without victims,” Nikol Pashinyan said on April 13, 2022, from the podium of the National Assembly. Perhaps there is a need to add instead: without thousands of victims, without destroying tens of thousands of human lives, without losing the liberated territories of the homeland, without handing over the infrastructure to the enemy, without causing irreparable security losses.

Following this statement, the Artillery Division of the PB Artillery Division (artillery division of the “Tsori” military unit) the parents of the fallen servicemen, submitted a report about the crime, which, however, had a “blurred” fate. Aravot’s interlocutor, Anahit Manasyan, the aunt of artilleryman Hayk Melikyan, who died in the 44-day war, first notes that their report was connected to several other cases during this period, the anti-corruption committee questioned some of the parents. Still, a year passed, and the process did not satisfy them.

– Mrs. Manasyan, please tell me, what path did the parents take following Nikol Pashinyan’s statement?

– The prosecutor’s office now shows inactivity, not wanting to separate our case and conduct a separate investigation. Meanwhile, with that statement, it was proved that our children were killed intentionally. There were criminal elements in Nikol Pashinyan’s statement. In fact, the war could have been prevented, our children would not have perished, and we would not have this situation today. They didn’t do it, and they made us miserable today. We consider that statement Nikol Pashinyan’s confessed testimony and insist he should be punished. Naturally, a preliminary investigation should be carried out, but not in a state connected to another case; otherwise, it will become a mess. We don’t want that, and we expect a thorough investigation.

– What problems do parents consider unsolved until now?

– First, delayed justice has already created significant problems for us. We all live for that justice now. We have nothing to lose. We have already lost our beloved ones and homeland, and our statehood is in danger. If we show inaction now, other parents and sons will suffer this fate. The atmosphere of impunity creates severe problems for the future. With already mutilated destinies, we want to cut off the head of this “meat grinder” so that this does not happen again. We are in a complex psychological state; one of the parents died, the other became disabled, and the others have heart problems and underwent surgery. Mothers face such health problems that our life has become more painful, but as long as we live, we must do something for the sake of living children.

– Mrs. Manasyan, what do you have to say to those parents who, for some reason, did not stand by your side in the street and the courts during this time, did not want to be seen or criticized, but maybe they are your sympathizers?

– We are not angry with any parent. This whole struggle is not for the parent. We should all unite around the parents and help them escape this situation. Those parents who are not with us now probably have intense problems. They cannot be blamed and slandered. We have found strength in ourselves, and we are fighting. The important thing is that they should also be informed, that they should know that we did not separate our children from theirs. Everyone is our son; we do our best for everyone.
