Legislative initiative aimed at rise of level of road network and tunnel security

The legislative package is aimed at the rise of the level of the road network and tunnel security, the reduction of their possible risks, the implementation of the preventing policy in the road accidents. The RA Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration Kristine Ghalechyan said this, presenting for debate in the first reading at April 9 NA sitting the legislative initiative on Making Amendments and Addenda to the RA law on Road Transport and on Making Addenda to the law on State Duty.

The Deputy Minister highlighted the definition of the compulsory demand of the road security audit during the road construction, reconstruction and capital repairing. The road safety audit is designed to carry out at the stages of road design, construction, as well as one year after operating the road. As Kristine Ghalechyan informed, requirement of qualifying the road safety auditors is also envisaged. According to the proposing addendum to the law on State Duty for holding qualification examinations and providing qualification certificate it is proposed to impose a state duty in the amount of twenty times of base duty, and for getting qualification certificate the duty will be in the amount of ten times of base duty. Other amendments are also proposed.

Hovik Aghazaryan presented the endorsement on the initiative of the NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs. “They are very important drafts and they have a goal to strengthen the regulations in the sphere very vital for us,” the deputy said.

During the exchange of ideas, the deputies interested in the problems of building and repairing the roads, pitting, with low marking quality, non-low marking roads and the works being done in other related problems.
