By making addendum to the law on Refugees and Asylum, the Government is planning to increase public control over the living conditions of asylum seekers’ housing, as well as the possibilities of exercising their rights in dwellings. The Head of the Migration and Citizenship Service of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs Armen Ghazaryan presented the issue at the NA sitting.
Currently, there are a number of mechanisms for the protection and control of the rights, but there is no institutional framework, which is envisaged by the draft law. It will be formed according to the procedure established by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Alkhas Ghazaryan presented the endorsement of the NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs. She noted that it is proposed to establish the legal basis for the formation of a group of public observers in order to carry out public control at the temporary accommodation center for asylum seekers. Such a regulation is aimed at ensuring the transparency of the activities of the temporary accommodation center for asylum seekers.
