Ucom, in collaboration with the “Arevordi” NGO, announces another important step towards environmental sustainability with the launch of a comprehensive carbon footprint assessment program for its head office. The initiative is based on the globally recognised standard for measuring and managing greenhouse gas emissions, the GHG Protocol.
This initiative comes at a time when climate change, biodiversity loss, and the depletion of natural resources are no longer future concerns, but pressing challenges of today.
“At Ucom, we believe that technology companies should lead environmental initiatives, contributing to a more responsible and sustainable future in Armenia. As a green company, we are committed to assessing our environmental impact and, where possible, reducing it. We view environmental sustainability not as a separate initiative, but as an integral part of our business and long-term strategy,” said Ralph Yirikian, General Director of Ucom.
As part of the program, the company will assess emissions generated by its operations and develop clear pathways for their reduction. The evaluation will cover key areas including energy consumption, transportation, waste management, procurement, and greenhouse gas emissions. Based on the findings, a structured carbon reduction roadmap will be developed with short- and medium-term targets. Monitoring mechanisms will also be introduced to ensure continuous performance tracking, along with transparent and accountable communication with the public and stakeholders.

“This initiative is an important step that, I believe, should be followed by all companies in Armenia. Environmental sustainability is a key condition for the long-term development of any business, and I am pleased that we have been advancing along this path together with Ucom for several years,” said Sona Kalantaryan, Director of the “Arevordi” NGO.
This process holds additional significance for Armenia, as the country is set to host the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17). It presents an opportunity not only to showcase Armenia’s unique biodiversity and culture, but also to demonstrate that businesses in the country are ready to contribute to shaping a sustainable future.
Ucom will continue to advance its environmental initiatives, combining technological progress with the principles of responsible business.
