Council of Europe Engages Armenian Civil Society on Equality and Human Rights Reforms

April 29,2026 16:08

Great conversations, fresh ideas, and stronger connections

Representatives from the Council of Europe recently sat down with the Armenian civil society organisations to talk about most pressing issues civil society face when dealing with equality.

CSOs play a huge role in advancing human rights, democracy, and the rule of law.

Working together we can increase stronger response to human rights violations and the reform agenda.

The issues discussed included

  • building trust between state institutions, law enforcement and civil society organisations
  • ensuring that that victims of violations obtain appropriate redress, while the protection and prevention mechanisms are in place.
  • strengthening the rights of minority groups through the local legislation,
  • improved educational possibilities for schools and children in rural areas,
  • preservation of cultural heritage,
  • enhancing capacities of national actors to co-ordinate anti-discrimination works and measures with civil society.

These initiatives ensure that reforms reach the people who need them most, and that civil society remains a strong partner in building an inclusive, resilient, and rights-respecting society in Armenia.
