At the panel discussion “Advancing Durable Solutions for Internally Displaced Persons,” held on the margins of the ECOSOC Meeting on the Transition from Relief to Development, the delegation of Armenia underscored the importance of comprehensive, coordinated, and sustainable approaches to addressing the needs of internally displaced persons and promoting their long-term inclusion.
Drawing on Armenia’s experience, the delegation noted that following the humanitarian crisis in the region, Armenia, in close cooperation with UN agencies, has implemented a number of initiatives aimed at protecting vulnerable groups, their socio-economic inclusion and long-term integration through approaches grounded in the humanitarian-development-peace nexus.
It was mentioned that Armenia continues its cooperation with relevant UN bodies and experts to strengthen its legislative and policy framework concerning internally displaced persons in line with international standards and best practices.
