After months of silence, two men suspected of stealing the royal jewels described their involvement in detail during new interrogations in June, Le monde reports. According to their statements, they were hired to carry out the heist for ‘€15,000 to €25,000.’

They are two of the main suspects in the spectacular heist at the Louvre museum: Abdoulaye N., a 40-year-old unlicensed taxi driver and former internet sensation from the 2000s, known for his motorcycle stunt videos under the alias Doudou Cross Bitume, and Ghelamallah A., a 36-year-old unemployed Algerian suffering from Diogenes syndrome.

These two fathers from the northern Paris suburb of Aubervilliers are suspected of being the two men who entered the Galerie d’Apollon on Sunday, October 19, 2025, making off with part of the French crown jewels. The ones who climbed to the balcony of the world’s largest museum with the help of a freight lift. The ones who entered the precious gallery using nothing more than angle grinders, then descended slowly in the lift basket, in full view of tourists, before vanishing on a scooter.
