Andy Burnham has become the UK’s prime minister today, replacing Keir Starmer, BBC reports.
The day began outside a busy 10 Downing Street where Starmer made his final address as PM, before he and Burnham visited King Charles in Buckingham Palace.
«His Majesty received in audience the Rt. Hon. Andrew Burnham MP and requested him to form a new Administration. The Rt. Hon Andrew Burnham MP accepted The King’s offer and kissed hands upon his appointment as Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury,» The Royal Family reports.
