A new chapter is opening for Armenian finfish and finfish product producers.
To make the entry of Armenian producers into the EU market easier and smoother, on July 24, finfish and finfish product producers in Armenia participated in an online awareness event, where they discussed the process of obtaining an EU export permit and practical questions.
This event was part of a series of awareness-raising activities for the sector, aimed at providing Armenian businesses with comprehensive information on the key requirements for accessing the European Union market.
Participants were introduced to the necessary documentation, application and verification procedures, as well as the EU’s import requirements.

“Registration in the European Union’s Trade Control and Expert System (TRACES) opens the doors not only to the markets of the EU’s 27 Member States, but also to a number of other countries that have adopted the system’s standards, such as Moldova, Ukraine, Israel, and others,” said Karen Azaryan, Consultant at the International Trade Centre.
On 16 March 2025, the EU authorised Armenia to export finfish and finfish products to the EU․
In recent months, through a project implemented by the International Trade Center, funded by the EU, it has worked closely with the Ministry of Economy and the Food Safety Inspection Body (FSIB) and has recorded significant results:
– On 16 July 2026, the Armenian government approved the procedure for exporting finfish and finfish products to the EU.
– Armenian businesses have already started applying for EU finfish export authorisation.
– A baseline assessment of the sector’s readiness in Armenia has been carried out.
– Some Armenian producers took part in Seafood Expo Global 2026 in Barcelona, connecting with industry experts and European buyers and importers.
– Together, this legislative, institutional and operational groundwork has laid the foundation for Armenian finfish and finfish products to be exported to the EU.
The EU will keep standing by Armenia on its path of decisions and development — grounded in shared values, vision, respect and equality.
