The delegation of Armenia reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the priorities of Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs) and other countries in special situations during the UN General Assembly Second Committee discussions. Armenia highlighted the importance of implementing the Awaza Programme of Action, strengthening international support and the UN development system, and mobilizing investment in sustainable and resilient infrastructure. As the LLDC Group’s coordinator on financing for development, Armenia expressed support for exploring a dedicated Infrastructure Investment and Financing Facility for LLDCs.
Armenia also reaffirmed its support for Small Island Developing States (SIDS). Looking ahead to COP17 of the Convention on Biological Diversity, Armenia emphasized that it will work to ensure that the priorities of countries in special situations are meaningfully reflected in the Conference’s deliberations and outcomes. Armenia also announced its decision to finance the participation of LDCs and SIDS in COP17, helping ensure that their voices are heard and that they can participate effectively in advancing global action on biodiversity.
