The EU continues to support Armenian producers on their way to new markets, as new EU trade measures take effect today.
This week, ITIF 2026 brought together 250 delegates from 38 countries with Armenian producers in Yerevan. The forum was organised by the Investment Council of Armenia and co-organised by the EU-funded “Building Sustainable Apparel and Agribusiness Value Chains in Armenia” project of the International Trade Centre (ITC).
At the opening panel, our Head of Cooperation Johann Hesse presented how the EU supports Armenia on this journey. That can mean help with branding and packaging that stands out to buyers, or raising quality standards, because quality is what wins customers and keeps them. It also means bringing Armenian producers face to face with international buyers, as at ITIF this week.
From today, the EU’s Autonomous Trade Measures (ATMs) for Armenia enter into force, removing customs duties on around 80% of Armenian exports to the EU for the next two years. Together with this support, the aim is for more Armenian products to find customers in Europe, and for “Made in Armenia” to become a label European consumers know and trust.
