“Reminding us of the slaughter of March 1, they cannot terrify us into a bargain. I don’t think we will be terrified, we are ready for sacrifice,” Vardges Gaspari, a human rights advocate and an ANC activist, said during a conversation with www.aravot.am, recalling the events of March 1. In his words, 4 years have passed since March 1, but in reality no revelation has been made, “It means that human’s right to life is not guaranteed in Armenia. People who were killed on March 1 did not do anything illegal to be condemned to death. It would be better if not so random people became victims on that day, but rather those who were ready for sacrifice, including me who was ready for that sacrifice.” In response to a question whether such incidents were possible after the election, if the ANC did not win the intended votes, Mr. Gaspari said, “I will avoid making political analyses, I will only say that I will be a proxy of the ANC candidates, I will endorse free election, if there are post-election developments, I will protect human rights, I will not submit to violation of any right, even if there is another ‘March 1.’ I cannot predict the situation, since I cannot say what the establishment will do or what the Congress will do, but my perception is that the Congress has not taken any illegal step so far.”
