Styopa Safaryan Doesn’t Blame Raffi Hovhannisyan, Bakhshyan Is Sorry That the Pressure Is Late

June 04,2012 11:08

“When I was a member of the counting board, I watched with most care in order that there might not be such violations and tried to prevent those. However, now there… I don’t know,” Anahit Bakhshyan, a member of the Heritage party executive committee said during a conversation with www.aravot.am about the open vote on the heads of commissions during the first meeting of the National Assembly.

During the Heritage Party convention, one of the party members, Daniel Ioanissyan, publicly expressed his discontent that people inside the party had not reconciled with the fact that Anahit Bakhshyan, Styopa Safaryan, Armen Martirosyan would not be in the 5th convocation of the parliament. Daniel assured that many people thought like him and had serious controversies with the party executive committee in that regard. We inquired from Ms. Bakhshyan whether she had noticed that discontent, being inside the party, she responded, “Yes, there has been such discontent and discrepancy, but the party is unique for that discrepancy. However, there was a plenary meeting of the council and the majority of the council voted for that, it is pointless to discuss it now.” In Anahit Bakhshyan’s words, those who didn’t participate in the vote talk now and the rest just keep silent. In response to our question whether, seeing what the people demanded, it wasn’t possible to meet the people’s demand and not to say that there was a party decision and that’s it, Ms. Bakhshyan said, “Unfortunately, there hadn’t been pressure before the election, there was pressure after the election, when no one could do anything.”

And Styopa Safaryan is convinced that Raffi Hovhannisyan shouldn’t be blamed for not believing what our government was capable of, “I am to blame in the same manner, because being in the parliament for 5 years, I myself couldn’t imagine that either. Who could possibly think that a working parliamentary group would diminish from a 7-member group to the one with 5 members?” As for making others withdraw their candidacies, in order that it reaches Ms. Bakhshyan, Styopa Safaryan noted, “Perhaps, it is a very good thing to do in other parties. It is not a good thing, when it happens. If it happens, it means that the goals the party pursues compel it to reorganize its team. However, I assure you it is not a good thing in any case. And it is not a good thing to order people to reject their offices and it is also not good that it is the case. Respecting the demand of the people, one thing is clear, however – it can happen only for one reason, if the Heritage Party is not sure that those 5 people or 3 out of 5 will fulfill the duties that they will take up in the parliament. I think the reorganization of the

team should not be dictated by anyone. However, it will be done not because of the good condition and it will not be a good thing, if it is done.”
