“No Matter Whether Serzh Likes It or Not, the Country Is Not a Good One,” Karapet Rubinyan Says

June 19,2012 11:15

“The Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) is in a condition of half-pregnancy,” Karapet Rubinyan, a former Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, who was included in the Heritage Party list for proportional representation in the last election, thinks. Mr. Rubinyan is under such impression, because although the Prosperous Armenia Party states that it is an opposition, nonetheless, it has a ministerial portfolio, no matter how many explanations are made that sports has nothing to do with politics, the PAP also has 4 chairmen of parliamentary commissions, deputy ministers and governors. Moreover, our interlocutor thinks that the claim that sports has nothing to do with politics is rather contentious, since in that case, one can say that agriculture and healthcare have nothing to do with politics either and recalling a joke spread among oppositionists that there are Republican hospitals, but there are no Prosperous hospitals, he treats all this with humor.

“The PAP is a part of neither the government nor the opposition, because if we describe the country of those people and their partners, no matter whether Serzh likes it or not, the country is not a good one.”

By the way, it is expected during the extraordinary meeting of the parliament to take place tomorrow that the PAP will clarify its status on the political stage with a statement. It is

expected that during the PAP parliamentary group meeting today, this very issue and issues regarding the economic program that the Cabinet will submit will be discussed.
