Oskanian’s Representative Is Convinced, “They Will Denied Us Here Too”

 The Armenian Court of Appeals delayed the examination of the appeal of  Tigran Atanesyan, Vartan Oskanian’s representative, against the decision of the trial court of the Kentron and

Nork-Marash administrative districts. The trial presided by Judge Henrik Ter-Adamyan was adjourned till tomorrow because of prosecutor Hovsep Sargsyan’s absence.

According to Vartan Oskanian’s representative, T. Atanesyan, they don’t have any expectations from the court of appeals, “I don’t expect much from our legal system, there is no expectation concerning such cases. This is an important step, by which it is shown that this is not prosecution, they try to achieve something through making up things, saying that black is white. The point in appealing is to show that it has nothing to do with the reality. In Armenia, it would be at least naïve to have any expectations from the legal system.”

Let us remind that the trial court of the Kentron and Nork Marash administrative districts presided by Judge Mnatsakan Martirosyan denied V. Oskanian’s petition to void the decision of the National Security Service (NSS) to launch an investigation into money laundering. Vartan Oskanian, the chairman of the Civilitas Foundation and a member of the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) National Assembly group, and his representative think that V. Oskanian’s rights have been violated by launching this investigation.

Mr. Atanesyan hasn’t comprehended so far the grounds for the denial of the trial court of the Kentron and Nork-Marash administrative districts, “There is no legal explanation underlying the denial. They either didn’t talk about the arguments, to which it was hard for them to respond, or put forward their own argument that if no right of Vartan Oskanian had been violated, the petition shouldn’t have been discussed in the first place. I am convinced that they will deny here too, we will necessarily appeal to the Supreme Court, let the Supreme Court show the whole world that it doesn’t respect its own precedents and they will show as in many other cases what legal system we have or don’t have.” Let us remind that last time the trial on this case was delayed because of the absence of Oskanian’s representative.
