According to Heghine Bisharyan, the deputy leader of the RLP, they received the application of the Attorney General to the National Assembly to withdraw the immunity of Vartan Oskanian, a member of the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) parliamentary group, a short while ago and haven’t managed to discuss it in the parliamentary group. “First, one should read the application of the attorney, listen to Mr. Oskanian, subsequently, discuss in the parliamentary group and only then make a decision,” Ms. Bisharyan explained.
In response to our question how the other parliamentary groups would react to the application, Ms. Bisharyan said, “Since the press informed about that based partially on rumors or as they say reliable sources rather early, it seems that they have prepared the political stage that there is such a problem, such a situation. Political forces are aware of some, but not accurate information in the press. It is not right to rely on it and think of the
level of legitimacy based on it. Making a decision based on that is not right at this moment either. One should listen to all parties.”
Talking about the observation of Eduard Sharmazanov, a deputy leader of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), that the RPA would vote on the application in accordance with the interests of the state, Ms. Bisharyan said, “We will be guided by our conscience. If the Attorney General wishes to enter the National Assembly and make grounded statements, we will listen to him and if they are convincing for us that there is a problem there…, we are for discussing the issue. The interests of the state are supreme, but we should understand what the subject matter is.”
