PAP MP. “We are getting a salary, aren’t we, including for the implementation of foreign policy.”

September 16,2013 14:04

Recently, the Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy of European Commission Stefan Füle said in Yerevan that they are ready to continue the integration of Armenia in other formats. In particular, the European official spoke of the preparation of a new document . “First, we are serious when we say that we respect our partners free expression of will. We are just as serious when we define conditions, and create conditions for the free expression of will to become true. Secondly, we are not engaged in closing the doors in front of our colleagues, if there is an interest and inclination. And finally, during the last three and a half years there has been a very intense process. We have a very informative text, this text is not going to disappear, our will and readiness will also be maintained to walk to our partners.”

To the question of Aravot.am whether the political forces and political figures, who support the EU’s Association, and Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area Agreements to be signed, and who in the last days reproached the President Serzh Sargsyan for closing the doors of Armenia before Europe, are inspired by Europe’s non denying position, PAP Spokesman Tigran Urikhanyan urged to refer the question to the representatives of forces declaring themselves opposition.

But the alternative PAP continues to be displeased that the decision on Armenia’s joining the Customs Union was not consulted with the second political force. Urikhanyan argues that in this case they could also make recommendations, which would resulted in a much more favorable situation of Armenia, as it is now. “The members of the second by number faction lead a serious foreign policy in the Parliament. I am one the EU-Armenia interparliamentary MP group, and I have made reports and have conducted a lot of work. And so, in several committees, I do not want to list them. Yes, the President is vested by the Constitution in making a decision, but whether there was no need for our opinion and estimation, we’re getting a salary, aren’t we, including for implementation of foreign policy,”- resented the PAP MP.

It continues to remain unclear for Tigran Urikhanyan as to why such a hasty decision was made after negotiating with the EU for years, and in fact, wasting money from the state budget onto the negotiations. And the fact that a tremendous work has been done with the EU, serious contextual and legal documents were developed, and based on it, anyway, now they should be trying to establish a format of cooperation, was expected by PAP Spokesman. But the fact that it does not anymore imply such integration, which was spoken about for years, is is quite obvious for the MP.

Answering journalists’ questions, Mr. Füle said that his Armenian partners have assured that there had been no pressure on Armenia with respect to joining the Customs Union, and ridiculed as to who they are not to believe. To our question as to how you comprehended the irony, the MP did not wish to refer, especially made by the representative of other interstate union.
