Former RF Ambassador to Armenia Vyacheslav Kovalenko said that “It Armenia takes the path of integration with the European Union, it will go to hell.”
Aravot.am asked Ruben Mehrabyan, expert of Armenian Centre for Political and International Studies, whether the path to Europe will actually become a way to hell and joining the Customs Union will open doors of heaven to Armenia, Mr. Mehrabyan replied, “It is Russian officials or former officials regular indelicacy to Armenia. I even do not view the aspect of content due to the simple reason that it is an absurd and stupidity by itself.”
Analyzing former Russian official’s expressed idea, Mr. Mehrabyan said, “According to him, 28 more countries are in this hell. At least, just for this reason it can be called stupidity. But, as to how it was presented and what working was used, it was regular manifestation of the fact that Armenia as a country does not worth a cent for Russia’s political elite. This once again shows what the so-called Armenian-Russian strategic alliance means, and it shows how many cents Armenia costs to Russia. Russia is not Armenia’s security guarantor, but the number one threat to Armenia’s security and the statehood.”
To our observation, whether it is possible that this view be reconciled with the political elite of Russia, Mr. Mehrabyan responded as follows, “Whether it was agreed or not, it would probably be known to Kovalenko. But, the matter that it is a dominant approach in the political leadership of Russia, I have no doubts here. I do not know what heaven will be, but per their vision, heaven is when the Kremlin sits on the neck of the neighbors, and the rest options are given the status of hell.”

Mr. Mehrabyan thinks that we should draw the following conclusion for all of these, “The community of Armenia should find strength to shake off the heavy weight of the so-called Armenian-Russian alliance that is hung over the neck of Armenian people.”
