Thomas de Waal thinks that in this period, it is strategically important for Azerbaijan not to be under the influence of Russia and Iran, and it is important for Armenia to open up the borders so that the country develops and becomes a more advanced republic. “To exercise these tasks, it is required to agree with the rival on the conflict to make it mutually beneficial. But we all understand that it is not realistic in current situation.”

The Azerbaijan country Director of the Institute of War and Peace Reporting, Shahin Rzayev, joined the press conference from the Tbilisi office via video call. He mentioned that the situated occurred in Azerbaijan has its own explanation, despite the fact that Armenia believes that the war is over, but the Azerbaijani society think that the war is still on and will end only when Azerbaijan brings its territories back, and the refugees return to their lands. He added that at this moment, the accounts of many Azerbaijani organizations funded by the West are frozen, but the organizations funded by Russia are still on. “At the moment, the situation becomes even more escalated because the conflict is not yet resolved, this problem is between Sargsyan and Aliyev.”
