Recently, one of the NA MPs, defending the other’s “honor”, said that his colleague is “a man living a righteous life.” This is said by a representative of the supreme legislative body of the state structure, who must elaborate the future development concept of our country for us, the citizens. If we do a black humor, we can say that he was fulfilling his mission in this respect, the society is “developing” just in that way. The sludge has come out to the surface in 25 years with its “righteousness” and, whether we like it or not, it is he who dictates the standards of the public behavior. People like and respect them, people envy them, people gossip about their wealth, people curse them, it does not matter, they are the general conductors of public degradation.
Naturally, a question arises: where to start from to come out of this impasse. The answer is simple for me, we must start from the education, upbringing. I know that this approach sounds strange to many people and will seem “not radical”, well, if Petros were sitting on the throne instead of Poghos, he would have “fixed” everything. But I am sure that if the laws of “righteous people” domain since 3-4th grades at school, where the teachers assume the role of a “cop”, if the university is simply a place of “leisure” for the youth, if the intellectuals propaganda the ideas of “nation” and “patriotism” of the second half of the 19th century, we will have the sick society that is unable to build a normal state. At the official level – “national” but in real life – “tough guys” and “flock”, here are the two factors working against the state.
The culture of “living a “righteous life”, slandering and alienating those who are different than you, being “agile and watchful” must be substituted for the culture of cooperation, support, sharing, respecting everyone’s personality, views, living and honoring the law and the rights. This is the way to becoming not “good guys” obeying some fabricated rules but individuals who differ from each other with everything, except being a citizen. The state is not established otherwise.
… From 1988 up to now, the orators of the Freedom Square are saying, the nation …, the people …, the country … , the government …, the opposition …, Poghos …, Petros …. Essentially, I hear less: an individual, a citizen, and a state.
