Yuri Vardanyan, the Ambassador of Armenia to Georgia should resign. This is the opinion of the head of “Modus Vivendi” Center, historian Ara Papyan. Recall that on February 26, during the annual meeting of the activities-2015 of the Georgian Committee coordinating the events to commemorate the centennial of the Armenian Genocide held at the “Hayartun” Center, the Ambassador has considered the genocide amusing. He has said, “I admit the notion of the genocide very amusing, very unacceptable, very extensive and an in-depth topic, with which genocide means elimination of a race, what it means by saying to behead 1.5 people, this is very unacceptable, a very incomprehensible action that has taken place hundred years ago …”
Mr. Papian has read the Ambassador’s statement and was astonished, “I tried to understand what Yuri Vardanyan meant by saying that the genocide is amusing, but I failed to understand. This is another manifestation when people are not engaged in their business and here is the result. When they say that the ambassador has confused the words, we must realize that the word is diplomat’s instrument. It is the same as the driver confuses the brake with the gas and the surgeon confuses the instruments. Can you imagine what the consequences will be? The same for the diplomat, moreover, the ambassador. After such a shameful statement, the ambassador should have resigned because there is no forgiveness.” Note that the NA RPA deputy Tachat Vardapetyan considered the ambassador’s action a mistake, wrong selection of words.
