The members of “Stand up Armenia” civil initiative submitted an open letter to the United Nations (UN) office demanding to initiate an international investigation to reveal the responsible side for the violation of ceasefire on April 2. “We see that there is no clarity with the international community about who is responsible for initiating the war on April 2, it is the duty for all of us to do everything to identify the culprit of the initiative. What we are doing today should have been done by the Republic of Armenia by presenting all the evidence of Azerbaijani aggression to the UN and OSCE. Since the state does not fulfill this function, the citizens had to undertake this function independently,”- said the member of the initiative, Andrias Ghukasyan. In his words, Armenia did not present proof to the UN and other international organizations at the state level because today the wheel of the Republic of Armenia is in the hands of the people who are not consistent to defending the national interests at the international platform, “The latest Aliyev-Sargsyan meeting in Vienna was the vivid proof of it, when it became obvious that the OSCE co-chair states do not have a clear position on who is responsible for initiating hostilities on April 2. We think that if Armenia’s functionaries had worked in routine mode, there would be no such a situation.”
Andrias Ghukasyan does not consider their claim to the UN belated, given the upcoming Aliyev-Sargsyan meeting, “The meeting of the presidents is expected in the next few days, and in essence, without explicitly pointing out the responsible party for the hostilities on April 2, it is impossible to expect any positive thing from these negotiations because no peace can be obtained in the region as a result of some agreements behind the back of the peoples.”
