Ii is interesting how people’s attitude towards any person or phenomenon is changing. When the Republicans say that they are Nzhdeh-followers, Taron-followers and nationalists, like it or not, it is casting a shadow on our national hero. When young philosophers write theses “Nzhdeh Science”, in which an attempt is made to prove that Nzhdeh was a more powerful philosopher that Kant or Hegel, a very natural response arises “it’s a bit much!”. This is approximately the same as forcing at school to memorize passages from the works of Tumanyan by spicing this compulsion with tasteless and “banal” comments, and pupils’ skills of understanding literature were limited thereto. Tumanyan is not to blame here as he was writing in a way that really it is easy to memorize but the “official” words are able to spoil everything.
Nzhdeh, certainly, is not to blame. Simply, when “Nzhdeh Science” becomes something like the history of the CPSU, period, something is blocked in people’s brain. But in this case, the opposite also happened: when the Russian official campaign began attaching labels to Nzhdeh without any reason, like a “fascist,” a “Nazi,” a “Collaborationists,” an “SS”, similarly a natural desire arises to protect him. And in recent days, as far as I can see, the number of young people have become more who make a “selfie” at Nzhdeh’s quite disputed statue from the artistic point of view. Now about another hero not by Nzhdeh’s greatness but again great military services to the homeland rendered serviceman Samvel Babayan. Can he be useful at this point in terms of the security of Artsakh? Of course, he can, but how? Naturally, it is very difficult to assume in the staff of the NKR Defense Army that in the 21st century, it is possible to participate in the war with independent guerrilla detachment. But the supporters of the General and partly he, Samvel Babayan, due to his political inexperience, his coming to the homeland was served as a political event.
Much more than political: here comes a man who will save the Armenian nation, will carry out a regime change in Armenia and Artsakh as soon as he appears in Stepanakert, all the Turks will run away and so on. And here comes the “blocking” because Samvel Babayan definitely is not Spinoza, he is not a politician, plus, the people of Artsakh remember his heroic deeds and “post-heroic” period which was not as much glorious.
Here it turns out that the excessive bombastic words, exaggerated expectations, political ambitions and speculation, as well as the lack of good will of the sides block (hopefully, so far) the possible cooperation that could bring benefit to Artsakh and Armenia. In short, if there is a good man or a positive thing, we must appreciate it. But to appreciate objectively, without exaggeration and without stereotyped words. Otherwise, the task fails, “is blocked” first and foremost in our brain.
