The US-based Armenian community has not yet made a decision about whom they will be supporting in the US presidential elections on November 8: Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump. Said American-Armenian writer, editor-in-chief and publisher of The California Courier, Harut Sassounian, in an interview with Aravot.am. In his words, the US-based Armenian are displeased with Hillary Clinton because she had failed to comply with her promises made earlier, “We do not want to be deceived again although this time she has not given any promise, and has never met with the US-based Armenian community. Therefore, it is excluded that we would support her candidacy.”
Note that in 2008, Hillary Clinton as a presidential candidate had promised to recognize the Armenian Genocide whereas in 2012, as a US Secretary of State she has qualified the Armenian Genocide as a “subject of historical debate.” As for Donald Trump, Harut Sassounian mentioned that he has never dealt with the problems of Armenians and the Armenian Issue, “We do not know what he has in mind and what he is going to do if elected a president. If there will be an opportunity to meet with him ahead of the elections, we will specify his stance. Only after then we will express an opinion about his candidature.”
