During the Prime Minister’s recent meeting with the reporters, a question was raised whether it is not a luxury for a country like ours to announce holidays from approximately December 26-27 to January 6. Karen Karapetyan agreed to this observation but noted that announcing the working days after January 3 should be by the law but since now there is no time for passing such a law, we will continue to eat pork for 10 days. But from the next year, the law will perhaps undergo amendments.
This is a commendable approach, long live work! The good are created by work, people raise their self-esteem by the work, all kinds of distress are complaints are overcome by work. Eating pork and “pancakes” for 10 days deadens a person, spoils (rather than increases) his mood, and causes a kind of mental emptiness.
Yesterday, I was watching a report about a Syrian family where the housewife expressed a very wise idea: you need to do your work with love in order to earn money. These people used to live in villas in Aleppo, were the owners of workshops, have seen war and destruction, now, they are starting here from scratches, making pastry, selling it and doing it with a smile, joking, and without complaining about life. Of course, there are thousands of such people among Armenians too. They do not post angry comments on the Facebook, do not wander in the streets to seek for a “fresh ear” and tell their pains and sorrows. Their mind is not concentrated on who is rich, who has a car or a house, the working man cannot be concentrated on such things. And those who concentrate their attention on such things and particularly do not stir their figure to do something, these people when December comes begin to whine, “Pooh, when this New Year is going to come to have a rest a little.” And thus, the period of senseless waste of time begins.
In short, the Christmas holidays must be sharply reduced. Yesterday, the government had talked about the fact that the customs people and banks must work by the emergency – “no pork” mode. Very good, the life should not be paralyzed. The next step should be announcing only December 31, January 1, 2 and 6 nonworking days. Of course, every person has the right to rest, the right that is enshrined in the Constitution. But it is the right of the individual, he must have a certain number of vacation days during the year. It has nothing to do with massive “idleness”.
