Former Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan has issued a statement on his newly opened Facebook page about joining the active politics processes and pre-election campaign. In this regard, in a conversation with Aravot.am, Head of the RPA faction Vahram Baghdasaryan said that Seyran Ohanyan’s statement was no surprise for him. To our question of whether Seyran Ohanyan is a powerful competitor for the RPA Party, Vahram Baghdasaryan replied, “But why do you think that he is a competitor? Have you already started to give qualification?”
To our observation that the pre-election campaign assumes a fierce competition, Vahram Baghdasaryan responded, “We do not underestimate any political party and any politician. All politicians who will serve in favor of them, our country and our state, we welcome all of them.” Seyran Ohanyan announces, “Submitting a application in the political processes is not an end in itself for me but a new self-expression to serve the Motherland.” As mentioned by Vahram Baghdasaryan, “You can serve the Homeland in any sphere. Naturally, also in the political sphere. I do not see any surprise in his statement. It is up to the decision of every citizen where he would be better useful for his country. He has preferred the political line and we treat it very normal.”
There are already comments underneath Seyran Ohanyan’s statement on the Facebook page: a king, a man with uppercase letters, people are saved, you are our savior. When we told what delighted comments are posted by the users about Seyran Ohanyan, Vahram Baghdasaryan responded, “Today, if you wish, after our interview, people can post several hundred similar types of comments underneath our conversation again with the same terminology: savior, king and so on. But we have one Savior and it is God. Our nation does not need saviors, our nation needs our nation-, our country- and our statehood-loving people and unity.”
