The First “Aurora” Prize Laureate Marguerite Barankitse was in Gyumri. She explained what the award means to her, referring to the first award ceremony held in Armenia, by which the co-founders of the “100 lives” enterprise Ruben Vardanyan, Nubar Afeyan, and Vartan Gregorian express their gratitude to those people who risk their lives during the Armenian Genocide rescued Armenians.
“Just as Mary, hearing from Archangel Gabriel that she would carry God’s son, said let it be God’s will, also I received my award as God’s will, and said that everything is in his hands, let it be God’s will. I do not have a homeland, I have left my country, and I accepted this award as a message from God, saying “Do not be afraid! “. By donating that money, I managed to bring the hopeless children’s hopes back. I appreciate the generous gesture of the Armenian Diaspora very much for this assistance, as it could use that money for solving various problems of the Armenian people. I see greatness in it, which I especially appreciate”.
Marguerite Barankitse also mentioned that in time of hopelessness she addresses to the crucified Christ, who tells her not to afraid, and to move forward.
