Fields of ‘wisemen’

October 07,2017 12:51

There are fields where the majority of Armenian people consider themselves unsurpassed experts. And moreover – they are sure that all other men, I do not even say women, are perfectly ignorant. A suchlike field is, for example, all that is connected with cars. I have met very few men in Armenia who are not sure that they are unprecedented masters of driving, and the other participants of traffic – “do not know how to drive, who do they trust the bar to?” and etc. Generally, there is rather an ill-treatment towards cars in us, I think, not as a means of transportation, but as an idol, symbol of wellness or poorness, oftentimes – as “the friend of a lifetime”. And it is not a coincident that that particular majority can engage in doing a comparative analysis of automobiles of various marks and the comparative analysis of their various parts, as well as to draw deep conclusions on the nuances of driving.

Another field of “wise men” is football. As compared with automobiles, here the situation is worse because few play football but other people know how they should play football. And when our football players lose, they are convinced that they know all the root causes of the bad game and the correct ways to make it better.

During yesterday I read the most humiliating accusations, the most poisonous swearings towards our football players, coaches and the president of the Football Federation, often also encompassing some political shades. I did not meet any professional analysis as which are the real reasons of losing. Perhaps there are no specialists, professionals? Or maybe there are, but they are engaged in their personal matters so much that they cannot express wake thoughts.

I will not try to draw amateur conclusions now, as compared with a lot of other people. I can say only one thing. Standing beside your team, when it wins is too easy – it seems you feel as the part of those victories. But as in all other cases, love, devotion, should not be conditional, that is – it should not be conditioned by “if-s” – “I will love you, if…” One should stand beside the loved team also in case of loss, even in case of overwhelming defeats.

We should believe in the boys today and encourage if we are fans. And leave the analyses of the failures to the specialists.
