‘Azerbaijan tests anti-tank rocket-propelled grenades’: Azerbaijan

April 04,2018 15:32

The opposition in Azerbaijan has boycotted the presidential elections to take place on April 11 and organized mass protests, during which anti-Armenian urges are voiced, informed expert on Azerbaijani affairs, Tatevik Hayrapetyan during a press conference.

She informed that among posters criticizing social issues and corruption, ones with Armenophobic claims appeared, such as: “condemn the Armenian terrorism!”, “return Karabakh!”, “we will concede Karabakh to no one!”.

“The pre-election period is actively used for anti-Armenian propaganda. Even though such claims are voiced by the controlled opposition, they are favorable to the authorities as well,” noticed Tatevik Hayrapetyan.

As stated by her, the propaganda of “returning Karabakh” will become rougher in Azerbaijan after the elections, converting into a demand.

In line with it, the expert mentioned that Azerbaijan tested anti-tank rocket-propelled grenades yesterday: “This way they try to show as if they are ready to satisfy any given demand.”

Addressing to still not officially confirmed information implying a new loan agreement will be signed between the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation, the expert noted: “A set of Azerbaijani media agencies responded to the news saying as if the parties consider the war to be likely and prepare for that.”

Referring to the Russian officials’ announcements constituting the Russian Federation is going to reduce the volume of arms supply to Azerbaijan, Tatevik Hayrapetyan explained: “By this Russia tries to palliate Aliyev’s announcements on “returning Yerevan”, which comprise territorial claims from Armenia. The issue is that the history is being falsified and the frauds are put on agenda.”
