Arthur Gevorgyan, the Head of the Yerevan Municipality Press Service, denies the rumors about Mayor Taron Margaryan’s resignation.
“I do not confirm that information, and I do not possess such information”, said Gevorgyan in response to the question regarding Taron Margaryan’s resignation.
“Taron Margaryan has submitted a resignation letter”, said David Khazhakyan, “Yelq” member of the Council in an interview, adding that the Mayor was absent from the Council session, which is unprecedented, and this is also a reason to believe that the Mayor has written his resignation letter.
“He is ill. Does not he have the right to get sick?”, responded Gevorgyan to Khazhakyan’s statement.
The name of the new Mayor was being circulated in the press: according to publications, Taron Margaryan would be replaced by Republican Party member, Head of “Synopsis”, Hovik Musayelyan. He, however, denied this rumor.
