Renovation of roads destroyed by 102nd military base falls on Armenian government’s shoulders

July 23,2018 15:38

As we know, the head of Panik village, Vardan Makeyan, has addressed a note to the newly appointed Ambassador of the Russian Federation Sergey Kopirkin and the Armenian Minister of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies Ashot Hakobyan, informing that the heavy military equipment of the 102nd Russian military base drives through Panik to Alagyaz military base destroying the roads of the village. He demanded either to recognize the roads of the village as interstate so that the government would repair those: the community does have enough budget for that, or the Russian side to pay property taxes to the community for every technique.

Armenian Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan, head of Panik village Vardan Makeyan and commanding staff of the 102nd military base held a closed discussion in Panik, during which the topic was also discussed.

The Minister told the reporters after the discussion: “We will provide solutions in the issues related to the roads because there is no such commitment from the Russian side. The government needs to make decisions regarding the communities and the roads. The decisions will be implemented and we will try to give solutions to the road issues”.

Panik village head Vardan Makeyan also gave some details about the discussion: “The Minister and the head of the region made a decision that the roads will be recognized as interstate and the government will provide the renovation of the roads within the limits of affordability. Communities do not have enough budget for constant renovations”, said the village head.
