August 08,2018 21:16

The Yerevan Municipality has fined Sanitek Armenia, a branch of Sanitek International Group – a multinational waste management company headquartered in Lebanon – for failing to conduct proper garbage removal in the capital.

The company is set to pay a fine amounting to AMD 12,000,377 as part of the contract signed between Sanitek and the city hall, the Municipality’s press service told Panorama.am.

The city hall’s Communal Service Department and the respective departments of administrative districts have revealed multiple cases of poor waste disposal services provided by Sanitek during a monitoring conducted in July.

The company was notified of those cases and given reasonable timeframes to eliminate the shortcomings. However, according to the Municipality, Sanitek failed to deal with all the shortcomings and was consequently fined for improperly fulfilling its services.

The city hall also warns to impose tougher measures set by the contract against Sanitek if it fails to properly implement its services in the future.
