“Military exercises have a specific purpose. At the moment, the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces are in control of the situation, and causing panic or doubting the combat preparedness of the army will not help in strengthening the army’s defense abilities,” the Deputy Minister of Defense, Arman Sargsyan, told reporters during a briefing in parliament.
From March 16th to March 20th, joint tactical military exercises will be held in all operational directions of the Armenian Armed Forces. Azerbaijan, in its turn, is also conducting military exercises.
Reporters asked about who is doubting the combat preparedness of the army. Arman Sargsyan responded that social media is. “Speaking out about the problem and spreading false information are two different things. Everyone is talking about the problems. From an objective standpoint, there are many problems that are being resolved every day.”
Regarding the possibility of a new war, he said, “I think that no one can say anything specific about a new war right now. If the issue arises, the state will take the necessary steps.”
