‘The CSTO is a trap’: Mariam Avagyan

“Armenia is also in danger today, but our ally, Russia, is either unable to defend us against our enemies, or it is not interested in doing so anymore. You can save Armenia in the same way you saved Greece,” people who became refugees during the Artsakh wars throughout the years gathered with these appeals at the French Embassy in Armenia. Their appeal was addressed to the President of France.

Azerbaijani-Armenian refugees believe that Emmanuel Macron will show support to Armenians, whom Azerbaijan wants to expel from their homeland by committing genocide.

“Pakistan, Turkey, and other forces have united against us. The 44-Day War showed that they are prepared to commit genocide against us due to our nationality and Christian faith. Azerbaijan’s Armed Forces have invaded the territory of the Republic of Armenia several days ago, but the Armenian side is not resisting them in fear of a Turkish-Azerbaijani attack. Turkey, under the pretext of helping Azerbaijan, intends to expel the Armenians from this territory once and for all,” Armine Khanyan, a member of the organization, said.

The coordinator of the Congress of Refugees from the Azerbaijani SSR, Mariam Avagyan, said that a few days ago, they were demonstrating near the Russian Embassy in Armenia, and they noted that the CSTO was a balloon. Today, she announced, “The CSTO is not just a balloon. It is a trap, otherwise, why could Armenia not have been the guarantor of Artsakh’s security? Why can Armenia not be the guarantor of the population of Artsakh on the fragments left of Artsakh after the 44-Day War until today? Why weren’t Artsakh’s skies defended when the authorities of Artsakh announced publicly that they were? Why have the murderous occupants infiltrated the territory of the Republic of Armenia, and there is no order for our soldiers to shoot?”
