The defeat we suffered in the 44-Day War, its consequences, the security of our borders, and the interests of different countries and organizations in this region did not become the main topic of debate before the last elections. If the voters were interested in one thing, it was the question of whether Pashinyan will be able to “get back at Kocharyan” or vice versa. When there is no public order, the political forces do not think about security and foreign policy, which are, in my opinion, the most vital issues, and they are engaged in an empty, petty, and meaningless language fight.
In this respect, the current parliament accurately reflects the interests of our society, a society that even now, when it is obvious that the war is in fact still going on, can not deviate from the “internal political” agenda and uses the hostilities on our borders only to blame one side or the other. The parliamentary and extra-parliamentary forces are engaged in the same activities.
Most of our citizens and political forces are not aware of the situation’s seriousness. The citizens do not demand security, and the government is not going to deal with it. But let me inform those who are interested that the current situation is as follows. All the levers to prevent new clashes and new human casualties are now in Moscow. Russia, together with Azerbaijan, demands a “corridor” from Armenia through the Syunik province that will be controlled by Russian troops, the concession of a number of enclaves in the name of “delimitation,” as well as the installation of its bases along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. This is the political meaning of the recent hostilities in Gegharkunik province.
Should the Armenian government agree to these conditions? What are the options for disagreement? What happens if we agree or disagree? These are the issues that should be discussed in the parliament, as well as in the political and professional platforms. The main condition for the effectiveness of the discussion is realism and sincerity, without propaganda noise.

But politicians and politicized commentators speak about topics that interest the “people.” And the “people” are interested in when and how the “former” will be punished. And in the interests of the “people,” we must also be sincere, “not beautify” the reality. If people were not worried about the loss of 3700 people, then they are not worried about the death of three soldiers.
