On September 18, the first «Hawk 2021» UAV contest took place at the UAV airport after Karen Karapetyan in Lernapat village. The competition will be held in three categories: student groups, amateur groups and start-up companies; specialized companies. Taking into account these groups, the problems will be simple, medium, and complex.
About 27 teams participated in the competition. The geography of the teams was quite comprehensive. There were teams from Vanadzor, Talin, Gyumri, Goris, Gavar, Aygut, Dilijan, Yeghegnadzor, Abovyan and Yerevan. The groups were faced with three tasks: finding the source of the fire, finding the victim, delivering the survival package, and spreading liquid substances. Solving such problems can significantly improve the efficiency of the rescuer and the first responder.
In the «Student Groups» category, FlyLab Yerevan solved the problem of finding the source of the fire and spreading liquid substances the best, and the problem of delivering the survival package to the victim was solved by the «Byurakn» team.
In the «Amateur Groups and Start-Up Companies» category, the AHEX team was the leader in terms of finding the fire, finding the victim and delivering the survival package, and FlyLab was the leader in dispersing the liquid materials.

The prize fund, provided by «PicsArt» company, made 15 million AMD. The teams received 800.000 AMD for the first place, 600.000 AMD for the second place, and 300.000 AMD for the third place.
The competition is held within the framework of the EU Horizon 2020 «ResponDrone» program, which aims to develop and implement a situation awareness system in emergencies, as well as to provide the necessary information and communication services to the first responder.
The organizers of the competition are the Karen Vardanyan Educational Foundation, the RA Ministry
of Emergency Situations (MES), the RA Ministry of High-Tech Industry, the American University of
Armenia (AUA), and the Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises (UATE).
